The best band that plays in my living room

Dan & the Tobins were formed in 2006 when Dan Tobin starting messing around with GarageBand on his wife's computer. A veteran of the Los Angeles band Morgue-age (aka Room 237, Calderone, and Ball & Chain) and such Boston bands as Inky Cloak, Virtual Reyality, and the Walpole High School Jazz Ensemble, Dan never really had what you could call an actual band. Sure, Virtual Reyality won the 1992 WHS talent show. And okay, Inky Cloak recorded an album in his childhood bedroom. But the LA band was the closest thing he ever had to a band, and all they did was play a couple Halloween parties.

It was only with Dan & the Tobins that Dan Tobin's true lack of musical artistry was allowed to flourish.

Early recordings included a rough demo of "My Ass Fell Off," as well as another previously unrecorded song, "So What," written about an ex-girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. (Two of the last songs Dan actually wrote, both in 1995.) But it wasn't until he joined up with The Tobins and recorded a cover of "Judy and the Dream of Horses" that Dan realized he may actually be able to produce music people would be able to listen to all the way through at least once.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck: the computer was stolen, and the original master to "Judy" was lost forever. The band, dispirited and robbed of their studio, went their separate ways.

Then in May, 2007, Dan Tobin got a new MacBook and, after a brief adjustment period, reunited with The Tobins. While his wife was at yoga, they recorded their debut album While My My Wife Was at Yoga. It is their first official release.
